I appreciated this article in the Rotary District 5690 October 08 Newsletter‏ HOW BIG IS YOUR ROTARY CLUB? How many times have you asked or been asked “How big is your Rotary Club?” The answers we hear are “we’re a medium size club, about 45 members”, or “we’re a small club, about 25 members” or something similar. I’d be willing to bet that almost all of these answers would be the same if they were asked 5 years before, or 5 years in the future. Most of us have a subconscious idea of how big our Rotary club is. We get to be comfortable with the size of our club and don’t worry too much about membership until we drop below that mental “size” that we’re used to. When we lose a few members, we get uncomfortable with the trend and we get busy to recruit some replacements. When we get back up to the “size” that our Rotary club is, we tend to rest on our laurels. We feel comfortable again tat we’ve got our Rotary club back up to its traditional size. The second plaque was placed earlier this week at the Tornado Memorial in Graham Park. It lists the names of the thirteen people killed in the June 10, 1958 tornado. The landscaping at the park really looks terrific. If you have not been by the park lately, please stop by and visit. There will be a committee meeting on Thursday evening, November 6, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. in the Commission Room in City Hall at 220 E. First. Rotarians and the general public are invited. We will plan the creation of the remaining eleven plaques to be placed at the memorial. Each plaque will tell a different aspect of the tragic night. Steve Pershall Project Chair

El Dorado Rotary Club performed the annual clean-up routine October 15th, 2008 along the El Dorado bike/walk path. About a dozen members showed up on a beautiful fall morning to pick up trash and arrange large granite blocks in a new seating area overlooking the river on the southern end of the path.
