Group Study Exchange (GSE) Arrive from Australia

The GSE Team had a fast start in El Dorado after arriving last night via a hand-off from the Wichita club at Stearman Restaurant at the airport in Benton. They began their official itinerary by visiting the El Dorado Wetlands and Water Reclamation Facility. A barbeque lunch was served in the center of wetlands at the Gazebo/Environmental Education Kiosk. The weather cooperated and offered a cool breeze through shaded picnic area under the gazebo. Members included are Rotarian Paul Cox, the GSE leader; Kim Crawford, Joshua Devitt, Angela Maynard, Chantelle Montgomery, and Tim Watts. The El Dorado Rotary Club mourns the life of one of its most active members, Roger Joyce, who died when struck while bicycling yesterday. Roger was President of the club from 1995-96. He was awarded as a Paul Harris Fellow for contributions to the Rotary International Foundation. His quiet good nature and faith, his professionalism in his career, his friendship with all of us will be greatly missed. Roger joins fellow Rotarians, friends and families in our 2010 walk for polio relief for photo in center-right, with green shirt, yellow jacket.

New Meeting Place beginning Jan. 18

The El Dorado City Commission decided to close the restaurant at the Prairie Trails Golf Course. Our last meeting at Prairie Trails will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Starting January 18th, we will meet at the Welcome Center on the campus of Butler Community College. Here are directions from Wichita. Take K-254 to El Dorado. Continue on Central (K-254) past stoplights at Boyer and Village. Turn right at the third stoplight at Haverhill Road (Bank of America is on the NW corner). Continue south on Haverhill Road past the stoplight at Towanda. The campus will be on your right. Enter the east entrance off of Haverhill Road. The Welcome Center is a large two story building immediately on your right. Park on the west side of the building. Enter the lobby and go downstairs to the meeting rooms.
