Troy Jellison with the El Dorado Fire Dept.Speaks on Aug. 24 at Noon Meeting

Dear Rotarians, Warren will take the reins this week as I will be out of town. Last week we heard from Sue Givens with an interesting take on school quality vs. test scores. While there was some correlation as expected most of the tools seemed outdated and this is the information being provided to our parents. We need to tell the whole story and encourage El Dorado Schools. This week: Troy Jellison with the El Dorado Fire Dept. will give us some insight into the new training tower at the West station. ***We will also be inducting Jim Kirkbride as a new member*** ROD: Kim Krull *note*A small change for the 2016-2017 year is that in addition to leading the pledge of allegiance, I would like to have the ROD provide the prayer or find a fellow Rotarian to do so on their behalf. ***Playground map date is September 17th with a rain date of October 1. Dear Rotarians, Last week we heard from Erin-Kate Gomez and Dr. Amy Seeber will be doing a program about George Myers recent race through Death Valley with the Badwater ultra-marathon. George placed 9th making him one of the best ultra-marathon runners in the world! Amy and Erin were a apart of his crew and will explain the race, the challenges and all the stories that went with the 100 mile+ journey. Plus Amy's medical breakdown. Dear Rotarians, Last week we heard from Sarah Coffman, Wichita Animal Action League . If interested they are hosting an event called "Wags and Whiskers" on September 17th at the Watefront! This week: Kim Fross , Pregnancy and Family Resource Center. PFRC has had amazing growth in the past 16 years. Our services now include limited obstetrical ultrasounds, parenting classes, father mentoring, as well as Bible studies. We also hope to expand into the surrounding communities as doors are opened to us. We are called to provide confidential and compassionate care, accurate information and practical help to men and women facing unplanned pregnancies or past abortions.
