Dear Rotarians, This week: We are having our meeting at Prairie Trails. We will take care of any usual business and then have Santa on-site for our program. So far I have not received much feedback with regards to kiddos attending the meeting. If we can get a count by the end of tomorrow that would be helpful. If you are bringing a child you will be responsible for wrapping a book and getting it to myself or John Grange before the meeting. Dear Rotarians, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We will try and start the “Legacy” member re-introductions to the Club this week. Basically all I’m after would be for our long standing members to re-introduce themselves to the Club, specifically for our newer members that may not know you all that well. At some point during announcements I will call you up and you can give us some insight as to why you joined Rotary, why you are still and Rotarian, and what has been you Rotary story over the years. Dear Rotarians, Join us this week to welcome our newest member Ashley Sandstrum as she is inducted into Rotary. Last week we heard from Annette Gurney (Badway) from the US Attorney’s Office. Dear Rotarians, We are getting together this evening to prep the dictionaries @5:30pm, several of you have indicated you will be in attendance so this should happen very quickly. Roughly 12 Rotarians have plans to attend Wednesday morning for the passing out of the dictionaries. If anyone else is available that would be great. The YP group met separately for the most part to discuss Rotary in our world and how we can continue to make things better. While there was some correlation as expected most of the tools seemed outdated and this is the information being provided to our parents. This week: Kim Fross , Pregnancy and Family Resource Center. PFRC has had amazing growth in the past 16 years. Our services now include limited obstetrical ultrasounds, parenting classes, father mentoring, as well as Bible studies. We also hope to expand into the surrounding communities as doors are opened to us. Dear Rotarians, Last week: Nikki Woodrow, Wichita Police Department and organizer of the Four Legged Project spoke about ballistic vests for canine officer. This Week: Brooklyn Hamilton, Miss Frontier 2016 and Miss Kansas Contestant will be with us. And Jay will do a quarterly report. Rotarian of the Day is Chase Locke. Disc Golf Project – Your Rotary Board has decided to support the Disc Golf Project. This is towards the construction of an 18 hole disc golf course to the East of BG Products Football Stadium. So far, we would like to raise funds for the purchase of the “baskets” which would cost about $7000.00. The vision of the board is that our Rotary Club would be a future sponsor of the course, have some Rotary name recognition and help the city move forward on the project. The “course” would also have an accessible walking trail for all to use. The target for completion is sometime in 2017. Dear Rotarians, Last week: Jennifer Cook from the El Dorado Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Ross Viner showed us “Drums Across Kansas.” Coming this summer. This Week: Stevie Warren with a Musical Demonstration. (see below) Rotarian of the Day is John Prigmore “Road 23” Stevie Warren, along with her dad, Tony McGee, and brother Levi created the band Road 23 in 2006 in Meade, KS. Her husband Andrew joined the band and they recorded three CD’s with several songs that made it into radio stations. Stevie has also sung the National Anthem at Royals Stadium in Kansas City. This week we are being given the opportunity to see the very first public appearance of A.L., the KS Oil Museum's new robot! A.L. was purchased and named in honor of our dear friend, Albert Hogoboom, and he will allow classes and groups to be able to tour our museum facilities from afar!
