New Paul Harris Fellow Named

David Coryell has been recognized as the El Dorado, KS, Rotary Club's newest Paul Harris Fellow. He and his wife Pat, an artist, own and operate the “Gift Horse Farm Gallery and Gardens,” along with maintaining rental housing in El Dorado. They have 3 daughters and a son ... two educators, a library services director, and a programmer for NASA. They enjoy 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

David A. Coryell, BSEE, MS grew up in western Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma A&M College, (now Oklahoma State University.) From college, he worked for 19 months in a copper mine in New Mexico, of which 3 months was spent with the miners on strike! Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Oklahoma was hiring, and during a “visit home” he got work there. After 5 years at Douglas, he worked as a computer design engineer at IBM in Endicott, New York for 15 years. Retiring early, he moved to El Dorado, Kansas and took up computer programming as a consultant in local businesses, including GMM, Inc and what is now Intrust Bank. He now lives on a “Century Farm”—in the family for over 100 years— just north of town.

David is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado, where he has served as an elder, trustee, and was treasurer of the church for 17 years. He is active in the Current Affairs class and sings in the church choir.

David has been a member of the Rotary Club of El Dorado since December, 1985, where he served as club treasurer from 1991 through 1993. He has been active in several local projects, including measuring the bike trail for mileage markers, packing materials for the Washington, DC, WWII memorial, and Highway 77 cleanup.
David says, “I have been told—and I believe—that you will get from Rotary what you put into it. It has been a particular pleasure for me to introduce my daughter, Micaela Ayers, as a second-generation Rotarian in this club.”
