Brigadier General Vic Braden
Today’s military lives within a world of generational turmoil and global volatility. Brigadier General Braden’s presentation provides insights into the military’s role in this chaotic environment, in which economic, cultural, political, religious, and social issues are intertwined.
With more than 31 years of military service, General Braden has a history of diverse and challenging assignments. He has led a multi-state aviation task force in Bosnia, commanded more than half of the forces in the Kansas Army National Guard, and directed a foreign military advisor team in the complicated and volatile southern region of Afghanistan. He has earned numerous commendations during his career, including the senior aviator badge as a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot and a combat action badge from his deployment in Afghanistan.
General Braden completed his master’s degree at the University of Kansas, earned his Juris Doctor from Washburn University’s School of Law, and received a National Security Fellowship from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is also a 2011 graduate of the Kansas Chamber Leadership Kansas program.
In addition to his military career, General Braden has been a civilian prosecutor for more than 13 years. He has handled numerous high-profile murder cases, including those that qualify for the death penalty. For the past two years, he has supervised the Kansas Attorney General’s Criminal Litigation Division.
